3rd October 2007
The working groups for the CO534 module (IT Consultancy) have been assigned and I'm in Polyphemus (the one-eyed cyclops from Homer's odyssey). The one concern is that most of the assignments run from issue on a Wednesday until 8pm on the following Tuesday. I'm hoping that this is not a problem, as my study / lecturing schedule means that I can't really start work on any assessment until Friday morning - until this time, I'm solidly in class. In the first few assessments, it will probably not be an issue but as the assessments become more complicated, so may participation. We'll need to wait and see. |

The intensive course at Kent is well and truly over now, and the term begins for real. Strictly speaking, we are in week 4 of the Mid-Kent term but are just starting the real work in the Kent University semester, so my lecturing and studying weeks are slighjtly out of alignment. What is far more important however, is the fact that because the intensive is over with, I've settled down into two modules for each semester at Kent. It would have been four, but as I am doing the course of two years because of time constraints the pressure is off a little and I have some free time in the week not only for Kent assignments but for the obligatory administration work that goes with being a lecturer. |

11th September 2007
It is probably quite obvious that some big changes have been made to the site in recent days. Sphynx.co.uk has been neglected for a long time mainly due to workload, but also because any project that I have started has often begun here but spawned a spin-off, dedicated website to deal with the matter properly. In the last few days, I've finally started a role as lecturer at Mid-Kent College, as well as continuing my IT study at the University of Kent. What this means is that I now have a need to a range of information to be available to me in a lot of different places at the same time. The result? Sphynx.co.uk will still see its use as a show-boat for my personal work, but will also see far, far more use as a tool to provide me with a centrally available information store, regardless of which establishment I am at. To go with that, I've also uploaded a new and more traditional CMS portal template - I'm being selfish, and it's purely to make my life easier. |
